Abstract

China's increasing participation in different international institutions and the increase in development projects in different latitudes of the world does not represent, without a doubt, an improvised or impulsive phenomenon. On the contrary, it responds to both domestic and international factors and  motivations that led to the country's growing dynamism in this area.
Based on these considerations, the objective of this article is to describe the process of insertion of multilateral development banks led by China in South America. To do this, first of all, this work addresses the set of domestic and international motivations that favored the expansion of these actors. Subsequently, the study focuses on determining the trajectory of the AIIB, the greatest exponent of this set of actors, to finally identify the type of dynamics it had in South America.
